Cape Grim is the north western most point of Tasmania in Australia. Named in December 1798 by the explorer Matthew Flinders, It faces the great southern ocean, the next landfall to the west being the southern tip of Argentina. Strong winds from Antarctica and the southern Indian Ocean are regular visitors at Cape Grim as they are to the entire West Coast of Tasmania. Our expectations for our evening visit were anything other than the beautiful evening sun drenched "Calm at Cape Grim".
